2521c Use of Outside Speakers

External speakers or resources can enhance and enrich classroom experiences. Staff members must obtain
specific permission from building principals prior to presentations by outside speakers. In addition, speakers may
provide commercial or educational materials that appropriately augment the curriculum. However, when using or
distributing such materials, principals and teachers must ensure that the materials are objective and adhere to the
principles set forth in the school board policy.

In general, topics presented or materials made available to students should:

    A. Be provided prior to date of presentation for approval and duplication if required;

    B. Relate to approved curricula;

    C. Provide opposing viewpoints when addressing issue-orientated subjects;

    D. Be age appropriate.

Refer to administrative guidelines.
