5518 AdmGuide_Cell Phones and Electronic Communication Devices

Students are prohibited from using electronic communication devices (ECDs) including, but not limited to, cell
phones and pagers during the school day, in school buildings and vehicles, and at all school sponsored activities
unless authorization of use of such a device has been provided by a school administrator or designee. The school
day shall include lunch periods and passing periods. "Using" shall include, but not be limited to, having the ECD
"On," making calls, receiving calls, text messaging, or taking pictures (cell phones with picture and/or video
capability), or accessing any other functionality of the device, such as internet, text messaging, e-mail, etc.
 
Students may carry an ECD in a backpack, purse, or in his/her pocket.
 
Under no circumstances may ECDs be used in any locker room.
 
This includes, but is not limited to the use and possession of a cell phone with a picture feature or a recording
device. "Recording device" means a camera, a video recorder, or any other device that may be used to record or
transfer images.
 
The District is not responsible for the loss, theft, damage, or vandalism to ECDs as well as other tudent property.
Students and parents are strongly encouraged to ensure that, students not leave ECDs unattended or unsecured.
