3142 Policy_Non-renewal of a Teacher

The Board of Education recognizes its obligation to employ only those professional staff members best trained and
equipped to meet the educational needs of the students of this District. The Board shall discharge that obligation
by retaining in service only those teachers who meet those standards.

The Superintendent shall ensure that teachers are evaluated in a timely manner by appropriate administrators,
notified of areas of which performance is not meeting expectations, and are provided assistance in improving their
performance.

If the Board of Education intends to non-renew the individual teaching contract, it shall give the teacher written
preliminary notice as required by the statutory non-renewal procedure and in accordance with the language of the
teacher’s individual contract.

Non-renewal of individual teaching contracts shall be consistent with State law and with the provisions of the
employment contract between the Board and the individual teacher.

By mutual agreement of the Board and the teacher, the employment contract may be modified or terminated.

The Superintendent shall ensure that appropriate notices of the Board's actions are timely sent and delivered to all
