All student conduct should be based on respect and consideration for the rights of others. Students have a
responsibility to know and follow the rules and regulations of the school and School District.
All staff members share the responsibility for building a positive school climate and for maintaining school rules
and standards of conduct. In enforcing rules for student conduct, all staff members shall use a positive approach,
taking into account the dignity of the student, and the seriousness of the infraction. Staff members should inform
and involve parents in disciplinary actions which are the result of serious rule infractions.
The Classroom Code of Conduct policy (policy #5500), and the Suspension and Expulsion policy, (policy #5610),
outline disciplinary procedures that apply to rule infractions. These policies are intended to create, foster and
maintain orderly and safe school environments conducive to teaching and learning.
The School District does not discriminate in the administration of disciplinary actions, including suspension and
expulsion, on the basis of sex, race, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, national origin, pregnancy, marital or
parental status, or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability.
