The Wauwatosa School Board and school administration recognize the importance of establishing an official policy governing the School District’s management of energy and use of natural resources in a manner that creates an optimal environment for learning in a fiscally responsive manner.
Responsibilities for Energy Usage Oversight
All School District employees, students and community users of school facilities share in the need to be cognizant of energy usage and conservation.
The Superintendent of Schools shall designate a staff member to serve as energy manager. This responsibility may be in conjunction with other designated duties.
The energy manager will establish and coordinate a committee to develop appropriate practices and guidelines for energy usage, conservation and efficiency. The committee shall include both School District personnel and community members with background and/or interest in the energy field.
The responsibilities of the energy manager shall include, on an annual basis:
A. Assess the environmental performance of District facilities.
B. Establish measurable short-term and long-term goals for increasing operational efficiencies and minimizing
expenses.
C. Identify sources of potential funding for energy conservation measures.
D. Create and implement plans to achieve efficiencies and minimize expenses.
E. Evaluate progress on achieving established goals.
F. Communicated the results of these efforts to the School Board, building administrators and the community.
